Tasmania

Supportive School Environment

All Education Department Schools in Tasmania have developed supportive school policies. Professional development has been provided over a number of years to all schools and the support services team support schools, students and families.

WRAPAROUND

Supporting young people with challenging behaviours by responding to their needs and the needs of the family in a comprehensive way that is positive and creative, involving key people in the life of the young person.

Target Group: K-10 (Young people with multiple suspensions, non attendees)

Timeframe: ongoing

Responsible Agencies: Department of Education in collaboration with outside agencies including, Youth Justice, Project Hahn, Anglicare, Salvation Army

PaKT Project ( Parents and Kids together)

A pilot program , under the Stronger Families and Communities Initiative, which will provide an early intervention program for families with a child, between 6 -12 years in the greater Glenorchy and Brighton area. The project will provide intensive family support for families from five specific schools and develop a best practice model of service delivery for this target group. Developmental reference group consists of a range of government agencies, Colony 47, Child and Family Services Child Protection and Department of Education

Hobart Education Business Training Partnership Website and Research

Research paper "Strategies to support youth at risk" Website designed to provide assistance to support people working with young people at risk of not making a successful transition from school to work.
