Example includes Skate Park development in the housing department area of the City of Clarence, where one in four people are aged between 0-14 years Coverage: State wide community initiated projects Timeframe: 2002-2003 Responsible Agency: Housing Tasmania Website: www.dhhs.tas.gov.au/housing/ Department of Education -a sample of programs Mission Impossible The flexibly delivered course delivered by Beacon Foundation in partnership with Elizabeth College. The course is designed to bridge the divide between college, students and employers. It is a ten week program aimed at developing general employability skills. Similar programs are operating State wide in high schools and colleges We Want to Work Program This program has the goals of zero unemployment in the Launceston Area. As an holistic alternative to traditional schooling it provides a flexible environment where young at risk students can access support. The program prepares for work and life with a mixture of education, training and life experiences. No Dole Nationally recognised program initiated by Brooks High School whereby students sign a No dole charter and are supported by local businesses to engage in a range of support programs leading to employment or further education and training. MARSS Program Supports schools in managing students whose behaviour is of serious concern and to maintain these students at school. Particular attention is given to students who had a record of multiple suspensions or exclusions, were chronic non attendees and were identified as at risk and disadvantaged.
