Department of Education -a sample of programs

Mission Impossible

The flexibly delivered course delivered by Beacon Foundation in partnership with Elizabeth College. The course is designed to bridge the divide between college, students and employers. It is a ten week program aimed at developing general employability skills. Similar programs are operating State wide in high schools and colleges

We Want to Work Program

This program has the goals of zero unemployment in the Launceston Area. As an holistic alternative to traditional schooling it provides a flexible environment where young at risk students can access support. The program prepares for work and life with a mixture of education, training and life experiences.

No Dole

Nationally recognised program initiated by Brooks High School whereby students sign a No dole charter and are supported by local businesses to engage in a range of support programs leading to employment or further education and training.

MARSS Program

Supports schools in managing students whose behaviour is of serious concern and to maintain these students at school. Particular attention is given to students who had a record of multiple suspensions or exclusions, were chronic non attendees and were identified as at risk and disadvantaged.
