Initiatives targeting Recommendation 21South Australiaactive8 Premier's Youth Challenge active8 provides training and community participation opportunities for young South Australians through partnerships between schools, community, youth organisations and young people. active8 promotes in young people leadership, team work, community service, individual responsibility, self-reliance and confidence, skills development, respect for others and communication skills. Twenty service providers work in partnership with host organisations to deliver the program in places as geographically diverse as Allendale East, Keith Loxton, Streaky Bay and Coober Pedy. The broad range of service providers includes: Air Force Cadets, Air Youth, Army and Navy Cadet Corps, Carclew Youth Arts Centre, Conservation Volunteers Australia, Country Fire Service, Police, Red Cross, Royal Life Saving, Surf Life Saving, Scouts and Guides, State Emergency Service and St John Ambulance. The active8 Premier's Youth Challenge is an initiative in which the partnerships between government, the community sector and the private sector provide significant benefits for the young people of South Australia. The objective is to offer high quality opportunities for young people to explore and express their creativity and their aspirations, provide pathways to employment and other community support systems, and to demonstrate to young people that their contributions are valued and respected.
