Workplace Learning Initiative supports students in planning and managing their transition from school to further education, training and employment. Districts develop local strategies and projects that assist students learning about the world of work. The program focuses on better preparing students, employers and workplace supervisors to participate in workplace learning programs.

Industry curriculum frameworks The Higher School Certificate examined seven industry curriculum frameworks that have mandatory work placements for the first time in 2001. In 2002, the Board of Vocational Education and Training is supporting the expansion of quality work placements.

School to Work Planning Initiative supports students in government secondary and central schools and Schools for Special Purposes (SSPs) to develop and implement individual school to work plans using their Employment Related Skills Logbook. Students are able to identify, document and verify their acquisition of work-related skills in a variety of educational and social contexts.

Arabic Youth Partnership Initiative provides additional guidance and support to Arabic speaking young people to plan their school courses and post-school education, training and employment pathways through the School to Work Program. It will provide employment information forums for Arabic speaking background government high school students and their parents in the Bankstown, Granville, Liverpool and St George Districts.
