Part-time Traineeships in NSW Schools program

The Part-time Traineeships in NSW Schools program provides senior secondary students with the opportunity to include a recognised VET qualification within their Higher School Certificate and to combine this with paid work.

The VET in Schools Directorate is seeking partnerships with a range of corporate employers to participate in the program. Partnerships have been established with Visy Industries, Big W, Coles, McDonalds, Toyota and Holden.

Target group: Senior secondary students in government schools.

Coverage: State wide. Over 1000 government senior secondary students have commenced a school based traineeship since the Part-time Traineeships in NSW schools program was first piloted in 1998.

Timeframe: Ongoing.

Responsibility Agency: NSW Department of Education and Training.
